This is BBAC - Radio and you just listened to Nathalie Imbrugliawith herlast hit "Torn". Today we have prepared an interesting theme to talk about, and we have invited several guests. These people know much about the problem, because they collected their own experiences. The thing we'll talk abouttoday will be the labour market of women in Europe. So hold the line - it'sgonna be exciting.

Now we have another song for you: You'll certainly know know this hit.

                                   ----------   music  --------------

Yeah, that's it. At the beginning of our discussion I have a question for our expert: Dr Chambers. As we all know, it's not the first time you visit our studio. What do you think about the current theme?

Dr Chambers:

Well, you can not generalize this topic, but normally there are no differences between men and women, except the anatomical ones of course.

Interviewer:

Ääähm, hmm, do you want to say that there …, bah, it's not important, I now want to introduce our first guest. She lives in France - Hello Celine!

Celine:

Good morning, I'm Celine Volonté, I'm from Clermont Ferrand and I'm working as housewife. In contrast to many prejudices I do have much joy and change!

Interviewer:

Another guest is Steffi Müller, Steffi where are you from and what do you work?

Steffi:

I'm living in Cologne, working as manager of a renowned limited company and I can't understand at all, how you can waste your time with children andhousehold!

Tina:

Oooh damn - you've got some problems!! I would like to have such difficulties. I neither have a car, nor can afford a drivers license. It's hard to support my family!

Interviewer:

By the way, this is Tina Marshall from London. What problems do you have?

Tina:

I'm unemployed and need to get social security.

Steffi:

WOAH, that are the people I like!!! They scrounge everywhere and everytime and waste our taxes!

Interviewer:

Steffi, please stop it, let her describe her situation first. Tina, why don't you have a job?

Tina:

When I was apprenticed I suddenly got pregnantand had to interrupt the aprenticeship. After my pregnancy it was hard to find a job without an instruchtion.

Dr Chambers:

Exact, this problem is spreaded all over our community, children often get hindering for women and their career.

Steffi:

That's exactly what I mean, children are a plague.

Celine:

How can you say something like that? My children make my life complete. Can't you see that children are our future?

Tina:

And who will care for you in the future?

Steffi:

For this I don't need children, I work at this time and I get enough money so that the eve of my life is secured - and if things get worse I can also pick up a millionaire.

Celine:

But isn't your personal contentment more important for you than your career?

Steffi:

But I am happy! I try to be selfreliant and don't depend on a man.

Dr Chambers:

I think you forget that the woman is dominated by the man. That is fact since the beginning of the evolution. The Man overtakes the part of the guard - he is the hunter - gatherer and collects food. He uses his superior skills to kindle a fire with a rock. The woman cooks the soupe for her husband and the numerous children. It's like …

Interviewer:

I think that's enough. We live in the 21. century and we are not the "Flintstones"!!!

Celine:

Do not interrupt him. All in all he's the expert and he knows what he talks about.

Interviewer:

But I have my doubt about that!!!

Celine:

What's so terrible on it? The man is the stronger sex. Can't you accept this?

Steffi:

Are you daft?!? Have your kids screamed so loudly on you that your brainhas been damaged???

Tina:

Calm down now! I'm astonished that you lose tempure so quickly. I'd be lucky if I had such a life like both of you. The best compromise would be a mix of you two - time for children and money, too.

Dr Chambers:

But with this I can't get conform.

Interviewer:

Shut up. Tinas words are a good ending.

As you can see there are many different points of view. Nevertheless youcan get happy in several parts of the labour market. That was our discussionabout "Women in Europe". Now it's time for some music again.
