Cedric lives on Iviza and is an artist Harold is a lawyer and has a business in London.The plotWhen Mrs McGillicuddy goes by train to visit her friend Jane Marple she sees something horrible:When her train passes another train, a woman is strungled by a man. Mrs McGillicuddy is very confused when she arrives at Jane Marple’s house. They wait some days but as there are no articels in the newspaper about this crime they go to the police. But there’s one problem: till up to now- no corpse has been found. The 2 women decide to investigate- but without a result. After some days Mrs McGillicuddy goes to Ceylon and so Miss Marple searches alone for clues. She discovers an railway embankment where the train has to slow down its speed and

so there is a chance to get out of the train unseen.Then Miss Marple gets the information that the property next to the lane is called Rutherford Hall. She goes to her old friend Florence, who lives near Rutherford Hall, to stay there till the crime will have been solved. She also calls Lucy Eyelsbarrow, a household help who should look for a job at Rutherford Hall. Some days later Lucy starts working there. Miss Marple gives her the order to find the corpse. She finds it in a sarcophagus in the Long Barn. Emma and her father Luther are very shocked about this news. The rest of the family and Alexander’s friend James come because of the inquest.Now also Scotland Yard is informed. They think that the woman is a French and maybe an artist because of her clothes.Mrs McGillicuddy is reliefed that the woman is found.Craddock calls his colleague in Paris to ask whether a woman is missed. He is told that it could be Anna Strawinska. She has a British husband and she left the dancing company on Dec. 20.Emma has a secret. She got a letter from a woman named Martine. She wrote that she was the wife of Edmund and that she wanted to come soon. As Martine is a French, Emma goes to the police and tells them about her.He asks Harold, Cedric and Alfred for an alibi for Dec 20. All 3 have one.When Craddock comes to Rutherford Hall, Alexander and James give him an envelope which they have found with the address of Martine. Emma says that it is the envelope of the letter which she wrote to Martine some weeks before.In the meantime Anna’s colleagues got a postcard from her, so she must be alive.When the Crackenthorpe’s have curry for dinner Dr Quimper must come because all who ate some curry feel sick, it‘s because of arsenic, a poison. One person dies because of the poison-Alfred.Next day James Stoddart West’s mother comes and wants to speak to Emma. She tells her that she was the wife of Edmund.But who is the killed woman?Harold feels better and so he goes back to London. A small parcle with a tablet box inside was sent to him by Dr Quimper. He takes them-next morning he’s dead. Craddock thinks that it can’t be Anna because of the postcard but Miss Marple replies to him that this is no real clue- a friend of her sent a postcard to her children from a foreign country although she wasn’t there.When Mrs McGillicuddy comes back from Ceylon Miss Marple has a plan to Stellen the murderer. The two fiends go to Rutherford Hall where they get some sandwiches for tea because it’s Dr Quimper’s birthday. Suddenly Mrs McGillicuddy says that she feels sick(that’s a part of the plan) and she leaves the room. In the meantime Jane Marple takes a bread and suddenly she gives a gasp and begins to choke-because of a fishbone. Dr Quimper stands up quickly and wants to help her. At this moment Elspeth McGillicuddy enters the room and shouts that he is the murderer.Anna Strawinska is the killed woman and Quimper’s wife. He wants to marry Emma and so he had to kill Anna. He also wrote the letter and no Martine exists. He erfand this name and also sent the postcard. I didn’t know the murderer until the end and I was really surprised that Dr Quimper is the murderer.
